We’re often asked by a client what we will need in order to begin working on a website. The following is a list of the things you can do before you hire us to build your site.
- Electronic forms of your logo: Save yourself money by providing us with a high quality copy of your logo. An EPS is best, a high-resolution TIFF or JPEG is second best. It takes time (and your money) to scan and/or recreate a logo.
- Type in your own copy. Sending us an email, MS Word, or Quark document will save considerable time & money, and decrease the proofing stage of your site.
- If you want to have a map to your location, it helps us if you can provide us with either a paper or electronic map. While we could link to a map from Mapquest, they’re not of the best quality, and there are inaccuracies in their database. I often find maps where street addresses are placed on the wrong side of the street. We can create a small map for you, but it helps if we’ve got something to work from.
- You know your business, we know ours. If there are places you want to link to, or resources you want to provide, search those out and give us the dirt.
- Know what you want. Most sites include:
- Your logo
- Your business name, address & telephone number
- Your main message — if write it yourself, we won’t have to charge you a lot because we hate that
- Your email address
- Photos — electronic form is great. If you only have photos on paper, we’ll have to scan them, and that takes more time, which means higher costs to you.
- Hours of operation, specials, entertainment schedules, menus costs, bios of important people, case studies, reviews, etc.
